This project is the first of its kind for creative arts students at Langara. There are literally thousands of viewers who will see this installation every day.  ”Art should make you think, and I think this shows the facets of people who leave their footprints behind. There are different people shown here, but they’re together, travelling.” – James Fletcher, one of the eleven artists involved in the conception and construction of this project.

Our would-be collective was informed that Janice Fairley, the Public Art Program & Website Director for inTransit BC, was on the jury and was “very excited” about how this project was created. We are expecting it will get a huge amount of exposure from both viewers onsite, on the inTransit website and possibly on facebook.

This is the culmination of several years creative effort and I am gratified to be concluding this body of work. During the exhibition I will be hosting artist talks about the stellar landscapes depicted as well as my creative process.

The Port Moody Arts Center is holding their annual 6×6 art auction and gallery fundraiser November 3rd to December 23rd.

Arts Center members are invited to create 2D and 3D artworks measuring 6×6 inches , using clay or cradled panels. Bidding ends December 18 at 3Pm.

Studio 659 will feature a new Day of the Dead Art Show during the month of October. The show will showcase art depicting the traditional Mexican holiday of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead).

Typically Day of the Dead art features decorated skeleton skulls, marigolds and brightly colored fabrics.

Opening Night of this show will be Friday, September 30 – 6:59 pm – 9 pm. Free to all, free refreshments and a chance to meet artists featured in the show. Plenty of free street parking.

Opening night was all kinds of unbelievable. Thank you everyone who were able to come out to the opening of Generasjoner! I am so blessed by your love and support.

My only regret is that my grandfather is no longer with us and therefore not able to see his beautiful work so prominently displayed on the gallery walls.

Humanity is looking more and more to
technology for inspiration and meaning and to learn about ourselves.
The phenomena depicted are of such large scale that we can only measure it in
relation to the speed of light and nothing humanity has ever created has even
attained a significant fraction of that speed. Our telescopes see not only in distance
but also in time. An image of something 500 light years away is also 500 years in
our past. We have images of events 13 billion years away. How much has changed
since the light from that distant view began its journey?
This concept of scale is so humbling when we often struggle with scale in terms of
our world. The universe is described as vast but that does not do it any it justice
when there are so many beautiful objects that would take thousands of our lifetimes
to traverse at the speeds we can reach today.

This exhibition seeks to capture the idea of finding inspiration in the
science of natural processes and events, featuring large scale paintings of nebulae and galaxies exquisitely rendered in oil and mixed media.

Historically, life drawing has been the most enduring and inspiring genre in representational art. Drawing the figure offers tools for development of artistic skills, expression of the human form, the witnessing of empathy, and exploration of the paradox of identity. With this in mind, the figurative drawing studio Basic Inquiry presents the provocative exhibition “Naked”.
